Inmate Work Program

In partnership with the New Philadelphia Municipal Court and Southern District Court, the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office coordinates and administers the Inmate Work Program. Funded through a grant from the Tuscarawas-Stark-Wayne Joint Solid Waste District, our Courts have the option of sentencing non-violent, misdemeanor offenders to serve their time in the Inmate Work Program in lieu of jail time. The weekend inmates pick-up litter along township and county roads, parks and areas of non-profit organizations as requested under a deputy’s supervision. This in turn, frees up space to house more serious offenders in our County Jail.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office schedules the locations of the litter crews and schedules the dates for inmates to work. The grant pays for a full-time deputy and a part-time administrator. If you are interested in scheduling a litter detail, please contact 330-308-6609. For any other litter concerns or complaints, please feel free to contact the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office at 330-339-2000. The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office is proud to be a part of keeping our County beautiful and clean.
