HISTORY
The Tuscarawas County Commissioners officially created the Tuscarawas County Park Department in
January of 2004. The Tuscarawas County Park Department is a department of the County and reports directly to the
County Commissioners. The legislation created a Tuscarawas County Park Advisory Committee that includes representation
from the County Government, the Department of Soil and Water, the Ohio State Extension Office, the Farm Bureau, Trail
and Green space organizations, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Business Sector, Townships and Municipalities.
MISSION
“Working in partnership with representatives from the agricultural community, trail and green
space advocates, businesses and local government, the Tuscarawas County Park department seeks to preserve and interpret
the agricultural, natural, cultural and recreational resources of Tuscarawas County. The Tuscarawas County Park
Department seeks to partner with local communities and non-profit organizations to develop a county-wide network of trails
and parks, promote agricultural lands and green spaces, stimulate community and economic development and enhance the
quality of life for the citizens of Tuscarawas County.”
