The procedure for becoming a notary public in
Ohio is changing. Senate Bill 263, Ohio Notary Public Modernization
Act, becomes effective September 20, 2019. Tuscarawas County Law
Library is working toward becoming an educational and testing
If you purchased a notary packet this year
(2019) you must take the notary exam by August 20, 2019. Test are
still being given the first and third Wednesday of the month
beginning at 8:00 am. Please contact the county law library at
330-365-3224 for further information.
Notary applicants who are renewing their commission are encouraged
to re-apply EARLY.
Applications are sent to the Ohio Secretary of
State’s office and processing time is usually 3 to 4 weeks.
The law library is open to the general public.

during the law library hours of business. Cost for a notary
packet is $61.00, which includes a testing fee and recording fees.
